Telecommunications Systems  AS/400 and System 3X

AS/400 and System 34,36 and 38 original cabling specifications called for terminals to be cabled from the host in a daisy chain format using twinaxial cable. Today unshielded twisted pair cable typically replaces twinax while daisy chain cabling is replaced by centralized bridging of terminal lines to the host port. Up to 7 devices can be bridged to one host port. This bridging takes place near the host or at a cross connect location. Baluns are used to connect the host and terminals to the twisted pair cabling.
