A category 5 link consists of UTP cable and connecting hardware that has been installed according to the UTP
installation practices in TIA/EIA-568-A and whose transmission characteristics are specified up to 100 MHz. It will support virtually any telecommunications system in operation today.
This includes emerging technologies that are being designed to operate over category 5 cabling and connecting hardware such as TP-PMD, ATM, 100BASE-T and Demand Priority (also known
