A category 4 link consists of UTP cable and connecting hardware that has been installed according to the UTP
installation practices in TIA/EIA-568-A and whose transmission characteristics are specified up to 20 MHz. The most common applications for category 4 are 4/16 Mbps Token Ring and
users of 10 Mbps 10BASE-T with plans to migrate towards Token Ring. Due to the decrease in demand of category 4 and the minimal cost differential between category 4 and 5, Hubbell
Premise Wiring has discontinued its category 4 line and recommends the use of category 5 in its place. |
