Description: The simple, peer-to-peer USB file transfer system for two PCs.
The ADP3181 provides an ideal file transfer solution for home networking, especially for single-room home offices. It offers a quick and easy solution for host-to-host communications at speed equivalent to an Ethernet™ 10Base-T connection. The ADP3181 supports file transfer for Windows™ peer-to-peer connections. Users can now network two or more Universal Serial Bus (USB) computers through standard Plug & Play technology without adding network cards.
With its increasing popularity, USB is the obvious choice for networking PCs. Not only is the ADP3181 easy to install and use, its transfer rate of up to 6 Mbps is significantly faster than that of alternative products, which provide a transfer rate of only up to 2 Mbps.
The USB Net is less costly than other alternatives. Rather than requiring one unit for each computer, each USB Net can be used between two PCs, thus minimizing the number of units required. The ADP3181 takes advantage of existing USB ports. No power outlet or costly upgrades are required to use this home network solution. The unit is powered from the USB bus, so an external supply is not required. USB Net is the Ideal Intra-Room Home Office Solution for networking and file synchronization.

USB Notes:
  • USB peripherals can connect either to a computer's port or to a hub.
  • If the computer doesn't have enough ports for all the peripherals, a hub is necessary.
  • Maximum length on individual cables is 5 Meters.
  • No terminators are needed on this bus.
  • The A (flat) type port would be considered the "out" port on a computer or hub.
  • The B (square) type port would be considered an "in" port on hubs or peripherals.
  • A typical USB "out" (Type-A) port can provide up to 500mA.
  • The speed is 12 Megabytes per second for USB 1.1 or 480 Megabytes per second for USB 2.0, the maximum number of peripherals to a controller is 63 (hubs needed when the computer runs out of ports).
